Emotional, Cognitive and Behavioural Eating Attitudes in Australians

Welcome to the research “Emotional, cognitive and behavioural Eating Attitudes in Australians”. Here, you will find information about our objectives and how your participation will be beneficial to scientific research about eating habits.

You are invited to participate in a research study being conducted by Bianca Gonzalez Martins, a post-doctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Phillipa Jane Hay, Foundation Chair of Mental Health of Translational Health Research Institute, School of Medicine of Western Sydney University. The research assesses the affective, cognitive, and behavioural aspects of eating attitudes among Australian adults.

You will be asked to complete an exploratory questionnaire with your demographic information and six psychometric instruments in the epidemiological stage. The instruments are the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire – self-report version (EDE-Q 6.0), the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-18), the Dietary Goal-Desire Incongruence Scale (DG-DI), the Motivation for Dietary Self-Control Scale (MDSC) and the Satisfaction with Dietary Behavior Scale (SWDB). This set of tools will allow the investigation of your relationship with your own eating habits. Furthermore, if you present specific features in this first stage of the study you may be invited to view a presentation with food images and complete a pleasure scale for approximately 25% of the pictures. All participation will be voluntary.
